The movie was nice and touching. The cause of the conflict was the insurance John got. He was not covered with the insurance because when the insurance company had reviewed their clients` profiles, they’ve discover that the income of John was not able to reach on the highest offer for the insurance. So he was placed on the lower offers of the company. John didn’t know about this, until the time when he went to the office.

He thought he was covered with the offer the company. When his son got sick, he was desperate to get the cure for his son. Until it came to the point that he had to hostage some people to get what he want. He was desperate to get his son on the list of the heart to be transplanted. He did everything for his son. He was really a hero not only to the eyes of his son, but also to those people who were there. All the time that he was on the hostage crisis, he was using a gun without a bullet in it. So it was not really his intention to hurt anyone around. He just wants his son to get the transplant he needs. It was when he was planning to kill himself, offering his heart to his son. Then a heart was available for his son. His wife entered the hospital and saved his husband by telling him that a heart is already available.

These are just some of the things that struck me. There are so many thrilling scenes and many emotional moments, yet in the end. The movie ended happy and no regrets for John. For him what he did is right. I think if I am on his part. I would do the same. These things will not happen if the government would give same offers to those insurance they offer. Everything really depends on the government and the people of the nation.

Psychiatric Disorders Common among College-age Individuals; Few Seek Treatment

Psychiatric disorders appear to be common among 18- to 24-year-olds, with overall rates similar among those attending or not attending college, according to a new report. Almost half of college-aged individuals meet criteria for substance abuse, personality disorders or another mental health condition during a one-year period, but only one-fourth of those seek treatment.

Recent tragic events at U.S. universities have called attention to the mental health needs of young adults, according to background information in the article. "For many, young adulthood is characterized by the pursuit of greater educational opportunities and employment prospects, development of personal relationships and, for some, parenthood," the authors write. "While all of these circumstances offer opportunities for growth, they may also result in stress that precipitates the onset or recurrence of psychiatric disorders."

Approximately one-half of Americans age 18 to 24 are enrolled in college at least part-time. To compare their mental health to that of individuals the same age not enrolled in college, Carlos Blanco, M.D., Ph.D., of the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University, New York, and colleagues analyzed data from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions. In this national survey, individuals age 19 to 25 who were attending (2,188) or not attending (2,904) college during the previous year were interviewed and assessed for psychiatric disorders between 2001 and 2002.

A total of 45.8 percent of college students and 47.7 percent of young adults not in college met the criteria for at least one psychiatric disorder. The most common disorders in college students were alcohol use disorders (20.4 percent) and personality disorders (17.7 percent), whereas those not in college most frequently met criteria for personality disorders (21.6 percent) and nicotine dependence (20.7 percent). College students were less likely to have a diagnosis of drug use disorder, nicotine dependence or bipolar disorder and were less likely to have used tobacco. However, their risk of alcohol use disorders was significantly greater.

Treatment rates were low for all psychiatric disorders. College students were significantly less likely to receive treatment for alcohol or drug use disorders than that not in college. "In view of the high prevalence and low rate of treatment of alcohol use disorders in college students, greater efforts to implement screening and intervention programs on college and university campuses are warranted," the authors write. "The centralized delivery of campus student health services might offer an advantageous structure for carrying out such screening and interventions."

Overall, the authors note, the rate of psychiatric disorders is high among young adults, who are at a vulnerable stage of development. "The vast majority of disorders in this population can be effectively treated with evidence-based psychosocial and pharmacological approaches," they conclude. "Early treatment could reduce the persistence of these disorders and their associated functional impairment, loss of productivity and increased health care costs. As these young people represent our nation's future, urgent action is needed to increase detection and treatment of psychiatric disorders among college students and their non–college-attending peers."

SONA 2009

Every year, the concerned groups and organizations always wait for the yearly report of the President, critics as the president calls them. Last Monday, for the first time, I sat down in front of the television for an hour just to listen to her report. Some of her political alliance have already gave their inputs before the president actually state her report, noticed their report is somewhat scripted. As expected, positive tale about their projects will be heard.

She first speaks about our economy and said that the state of our nation is a strong economy; when Erap steps down, Gloria Macapal-Arroyo’s name was heard to take his position, everyone is expecting that our economy will be taken care of now since she’s an economist. Honestly, I was impressed to the report of the President. The accomplishments, projects, plans, reforms, almost everything that she had said are really inspiring. From those reports, I can say that the Philippines really improving. But where is that reported improvements? Where is the improvement in the education while every classroom in the public schools are occupying 70-80 students, while the teachers are not satisfied with their salary, while the student are going to school with starving stomachs etc. ? Where is the economical growth in this country while many of employed Filipinos are not satisfied with their salary and benefits and are not regular employees, and many are still unemployed? Where is the real goodness of our OFWs while some of them are in prison of the state and some are imprisoned by their superiors and while their families left here cannot do anything about them but to pray and to cry? One might say that I’m only looking at the negatives, that there are really improvements but sad to say the negatives are the majority! Yes, there is growth in our country, but there is also growth in corruption and injustices and immoralities that covers the little goodness of our present leaders. The President’s effort to improve our country is truly remarkable but with personal agenda added in it, it is a waste (sad to say). Another thing, the criticism that she’s talking about must be answered and not just ignore and answer by another question.

It’s good that she’s giving only the good news in her report, but did she really accept the fact that we’re very affected with the global crisis? I feel that she’d been overwhelmed by what she had done and she has forgotten that the crisis is a continual process that the country needs to be prepare of. That’s one of the reasons why she’s always being criticized. She acts like everything is working fine but the reality is the opposite.

Improvements that we need cannot be seen in papers, ratings, budgets, laws, reforms and in anything that the President Arroyo had said in her SONA. She must show it in every homes’ dining table, in every classrooms’ number of students, in every office with satisfied employees and every child’s face in dreaming better future that are waiting for them.

I wonder if she ever had a view on the reports about the student who attends class with an empty stomach, bare footed, without books and notebooks and etc.? Will she be able to boast about our country’s education system? She even justified her trips to other countries as successful while giving those depressed and underprivileged the feeling of resentment.

Her speech is empty. I never heard her say of any plans on how she intends to end her presidency with pride or justice, with true leadership. She still has few months before she ends up her role as our president, hoped she will spend it with true patriotism and true leadership. After all, no one will ever be late in doing better.

Mrs. Cory Aquino's death

Hoping their beloved Tita Cory rallies, friends of the ailing former president Corazon Aquino gathered Wednesday at the Greenbelt chapel in Makati to start off a nine-day series of Healing Masses for the 76-year-old People Power icon who is battling cancer.

“Our hearts are burdened because of the illness of our beloved former president, and the pain and discomfort she has to endure,” broadcaster Korina Sanchez said, reading a novena prayer for Tita Cory, as the former president has been fondly called.

The Makati Medical Center has not issued any medical bulletin.

Mrs. Aquino was taken to the Makati Medical Center last June 24 due to lost of appetite.

Sytangco said Ms Aquino has been visited by her priest-friends since her second hospital confinement on June 25.

The chapel was filled with sympathizers for the noontime Mass intended for the former president as well as others who are suffering from cancer.

Ms Aquino “is in a very serious condition,” said a close Aquino family friend who asked not to be identified by name for lack of authority to speak to the press on the former president’s condition.

“Tita Cory is conscious. She can talk and pray but she's not well. It's serious," the friend added.

Among those who attended the service former members of her Cabinet, led by former Senate President Franklin Drilon and wife Mila, former Finance Secretary Ramon del Rosario Jr., former Land Reform Secretary Philip Juico and his wife, Margie; Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, and anti-Arroyo activists Dinky Soliman and Leah Navarro of the Black and White Movement.

Meanwhile, Kris Aquino, the former president's youngest daughter, was inconsolable, according to her manager and long-time friend Boy Abunda.

“Iyak s'ya ng iyak [She has been crying]," said Abunda, who spoke with the actress-TV host by phone around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. “She said ipaubaya na muna ng mga tao ang panahong ito sa kanya [that she be allowed to have this moment to herself]. She said she would rather not talk about her mom's condition at the moment."

Senator Benigno "Noynoy'' Aquino’s office issued a statement later Wednesday thanking "those who continue to pray for his mother's healing.''
